over 40"
Week 10 – Making the Most of Relationships
Excerpt
Week 10 - Day 1 Excerpt
Today’s Thin Thought: People are a package deal; food is just packaged
Ten weeks in! Allow me to say that you're amazing!
You are focused and dedicated to your Thin Over 40 goal. Please continue with
each aspect of the Plan as we gather momentum toward the last section of your
training. And this is training because Thin Over 40 isn't a diet or an eating
pattern for a set period of time; you're training for your new, healthy life.
Keep with it. Internalize what you're learning and make it a part of you! It's
about how you eat, but it's more about who you are and how you live.

Setting The Day for Success
Let's face it―people
are messy. Even the happy ones get pouty. Even the mild-mannered ones get
cranky. Even the most helpful say no. People are a mixed bag, a "package deal"
of both good and bad. Food, on the other hand, has been packaged to look, smell,
and taste appealing. The "good" is apparent and promoted; the "bad" is hidden on
the back with small print and indecipherable labels. People are hard; food is
easy. Is it any wonder, when relationships go bad, food looks so good.

Today, I
want you to spend some time thinking about how your mother dealt with food. How
did she deal with you? Do you remember being happy as a child? Was food a part
of that happiness? Was there stress in your relationship with your mother
growing up? How did you manage that stress as a child? Do you remember looking
forward to certain foods or meals? What about other relationships in the family?
Do you remember being able to express your feelings within the family? Do you
remember sneaking or hiding food as ad child? What were your favorite foods
growing up? Do you still enjoy those foods today? What do you think of when you
eat those foods? How do you feel?
